Heath Ledger was born and raised in Australia and began his acting career there before coming to the U.S. to make it big. In 2005, Ledger’s performance in “Brokeback Mountain” was the talk of tinsel town and he snagged both a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for his role. Three years later, just months after Ledger completed the filming of “The Dark Knight,” he was found dead of an accidental prescription drug overdose.
