A person who marries is usually placed in ‘respected’ and so-called ‘responsible’ class of people in our fold, irrespective of their age or years in marriage. For celebrities, the expectation is even higher, considering the role they play in today’s society. They reflect and sometimes define the moral, cultural and daily happenings in our setting. They have every right to insist on their privacy but just as the Americans would say, ‘if you can’t take the heat then leave the kitchen’. The choice is theirs. Other celebrities and their sycophantic fans have said the reason why they have delayed in marrying is because they want to meet their set targets in career and finances. Well, they should tell this to kids and naïve people. Ironically, most of the celebrities who give this popular excuse are the very people who are on the rich list of Ghanaian celebrities. They own houses, cars, pubs, restaurants, boutiques, to mention a few. The question is: what are they waiting for? Are they just not interested in married life or is there some hidden joy in being single that the outside world does not know?
