Diezani Alison-Madueke appears in court – The former minister of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, appeared before London’s Westminster Magistrate Court on Monday, October 5, at about 10 am over charges of corruption and money laundering.

She appeared in court with her mother, Beatrice Agama, and Melanie Spencer.
Sam Piranty, a journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), who is monitoring the event revealed this via his twitter handle.

Mrs Alison-Madueke, was arrested on Friday, October 2, by the International Corruption Unit (ICU) of the UK’s National Crimes Agency and was later granted bail after been detained for several hours.
The former minister’s case came to the attention of law enforcement agents in the UK when she used her mother to purchase a posh apartment in Westminster.

However it has not been confirmed if Mrs. Alison-Madueke will be charged alongside her mother and possibly an aide.
The identity of the other two people who were arrested with the former minister have not yet been identified.

The agency disclosed that five people were arrested “across London” as part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offenses, adding thatinvestigation into activities of Alison-Madueke, started back in 2013.
The presidency earlier on Monday, October 5, confirmed her arrest, saying that all the government investigative agencies are working very closely with the British law enforcement.
In the same vein operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the former petroleum minister, in what has been described as part of a multinational investigation of the former minister.
