8. Epic Movie Kisses Almost Did Not Exist
The 1930 Hays Code prevented Hollywood actors from kissing their co-stars horizontally during filming, meaning that they could not be lying down. The code also limited kisses to be 3 seconds or less. Could you imagine the kissing scenes in Gone With The Wind or Spider-man, Which are two of the greatest on screen kisses in history, if they were done as the Hays Code demanded?
The Hays Code also enforced a rule that stated married couples had to sleep in separate twin beds in films and on television. Kissing didn’t take place on beds back then and if by chance someone tried it, the actors had to have their feet on the ground. The Hays Code was dropped in the 1960s.
