10. Marisha Pessl
Marisha graduated college with a degree in English literature, but after graduation, didn’t immediately dive into a writing profession. She worked as a financial consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, but continued writing in her free time. Her third attempt at a novel was a hit. Special Topics in Calamity Physics went on to become a New York Times best-seller. Pessl is creative in many fields, not just literature. She was also a contributing musician to the album Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge from The Peirces.
