6. Calls MTV “racist”

In 2007, MTV chose to have Britney Spears give the opening performance at the VMAs. It was a decision that made sense. She was in the midst of a pseudo comeback. Kanye, however, disagreed. And, as we know, when Kanye disagrees with something, he makes sure to let everyone know.

West was already mad having lost in all the categories he was nominated for. He then went on to say he would never return to MTV. He also stated his dream when making the song “Stronger” was to perform it as the opening act at the VMAs. He called Spears irrelevant and said perhaps he was overlooked because “maybe my skin’s not right.” Perhaps MTV thought Spears would get better ratings and be less of a headache.
