7. Angry Birds
The Angry Birds video game franchise made its debut in 2009, and since then, it has been freely downloaded billions of times and made millions of dollars off of in-game features; making it one of the most successful freemium game series of all time. It may have been a fun way to pass the time while on the phone or tablet, but a movie based on this game does not really make sense. The game has you flinging upset birds at constructs in order to destroy the pigs that the birds do not like; how you turn that premise into an interesting 90 minute story is mind-boggling, and that in itself is a huge red flag considering the amount of bad video game movie adaptations that already exist. Little kids might love animated movies, and this movie may be targeted to them, but even little kids do not flock to movies that have a questionable story; just look at what happened with The Good Dinosaur and its lackluster performance. Sony may hope that this movie will do as good as movies like Minions, but this movie will definitely fall short of Minions earnings.
