13. Brian Kendrick
The Wellness Policy has now expanded to include some kind of action for virtually every drug under the sun, but when it first existed, marijuana was a pretty dicey subject. WWE acknowledged it isn’t exactly as harmful as steroids or other illegal drugs, and certain superstars, like Brian Kendrick, even lived in states like California where marijuana is decriminalized, and are able to legally smoke. Irrelevant to the Wellness Policy, though, WWE has always been able to fine performers who were caught smoking or with weed, which is how Kendrick amassed a small fortune in fines during his time with the company. When he was released for the first time in 2009, he publicly accused John Laurinaitis of refusing to tell him why he was let go, theorizing it must have been the “pot fines.”
