Without any further ado, here are twelve big celebrity feuds that were a ton of fun to watch happen, if a bit embarrassing for the people feuding at times. 12. Eminem This feud is kind of an odd one, and it’s played out over a few diss tracks that date all the way back to 2002. The music seems to imply that there was once a romantic relationship between rapper Eminem and Mariah Carey, but it’s more than likely one sided. While Eminem’s tracks imply that there was a relationship, everything on Mariah Carey’s side is clear: she never had a romantic connection at all. Vs. Mariah Carey At first, Eminem was the one putting out the diss tracks and keeping Mariah’s name in his mouth, but Mariah finally, finally put out a bona fide diss track of her own, and honestly, it’s a really good song. Sure, she won’t come right out and say “Obsessed” was about Eminem, but we know, and that’s what’s important here. Normally that would be the end of it, but Eminem fired back with “The Warning,” which is a lethal diss track. Even if you’re not the type to follow celebrity feuds, that track was fire. 11. Mariah Carey Vs. Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey just loves her celebrity feuds. She and Nicki Minaj go back to American Idol , back when they were both judges. They actually collaborated on a track back in 2010, and they seemed to be okay with each other then, but things went south fast once they got on the show together. Things deteriorated, though: it only took about two weeks for things to get dicey on the American Idol set. Even Barbara Walters got involved! 10. Paula Deen Vs. Anthony Bourdain Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain‘s feud over food represents the war between two major ways of thinking about food. There’s the food elite, and then there’s the people who watch Paula Deen. Evidently Anthony Bourdain doesn’t really like the idea of people stepping in on the food game. He said that Paula Deen is the “the worst, most dangerous person to America,” which seems a little excessive. However, Paula Deen fired back: “You know, not everybody can afford to pay $58 for prime rib or $650 for a bottle of wine. My friends and I cook for regular families who worry about feeding their kids and paying the bills . . . It wasn’t that long ago that I was struggling to feed my family, too.” She’s not wrong. Lots of people learn how to cook from Paula Deen, too, so she’s not alone in thinking this way. “Many Americans actually like to cook and a growing number want to learn. What if the magic ingredient to changing the way we eat turned out to be Paula Deen after all?” This particular celebrity feud does a good job in highlighting the different attitudes there are about food, and what it means to be a representative of those attitudes and philosophies. Joel Eszterhas Mel Gibson and Joel Eszterhas’s feud is a fight between screenwriters in every way. They actually worked together to try and put the story of Judah Maccabee on the big screen, which is very in character for both of them. However, the partnership quickly turned sour: the project was passed up by Warner Bros. and nobody wanted to comment on the situation. That could very well have been the end of it, but Eszterhas sent Gibson a nine page letter on the subject, saying that he was disappointed that Gibson hadn’t spoken up on the matter. On top of that, Gibson had apparently said some things about his ex-wife and some industry figures as well. For Mel Gibson’s part, he apologized for the mean comments, but said that the problem with the Maccabee script was with his writing, and the only reason he was upset was because the studio hadn’t liked the script. As of now, the project is on hold, but nobody really wanted the movie to be made anyway, so maybe this is a celebrity feud that was all for the best. 8. Chuck Lorre This is another feud that began over their work, but this time it was about their TV show, Two and A Half Men . As we all know, there was a time when Charlie Sheen went…a little nuts. He was doing drugs, inadvertently creating incredibly annoying memes like “tiger blood” and #winning, and generally being an unhinged sort of guy, even going on to rant at Lorre in some of his TV interviews. In 2011, Chuck Lorredecided he really didn’t want to deal with the situation anymore, and took Two and A Half Men in a brand new direction by killing off Sheen’s character and replacing him with Ashton Kutcher. Vs. Charlie Sheen Sheen eventually went on to do his next show, Anger Management , but when the show ended last year, Charlie Sheen was pissed about it. If you watched the last episode of the show, you’d have seen Chuck Lorre drop a piano on a Charlie Sheen lookalike’s head, and here’s what Sheen himself had to say about it: ‘Seriously, it doesn’t even matter. To go that low and be that immature and that completely unevolved and that stupid? In my face, Really? You must feel safe motherf***er. You must feel safe where you live. Damn!’ Tell us how you really feel, Charlie. 7. Chelsea Handler Vs. Angelina Jolie Chelsea Handler has gone on record more than a few times about the fact that she really does not like Angelina Jolie. When Handler was asked if there’s any actress she didn’t think was a “girl’s girl,” she responded with: ‘Probably Angelina Jolie. She doesn’t strike me as someone I would have a close friendship with. You just know as a woman, when you see another woman, if that’s a woman you can trust.’ Granted, she’s good friends with Jennifer Aniston, so I get where the animosity comes from, but even Jennifer Aniston doesn’t care about it anymore. She’s married to Justin Theroux and is generally quite happy, so this might be a feud that’s better off being left alone. 6. Meek Mill Like many feuds in this da y and age, this all started on Twitter. Meek Mill got mad at Drake because Drake didn’t Tweet about his album, Dreams Worth More Than Money , and then took to Twitter to talk about how Drake doesn’t write his own raps, and how if he’d known that, he wouldn’t have let Drake rap on the album that he didn’t Tweet about. The whole reason Drake didn’t Tweet about the album, according to Meek Mill, is because he and his team found out about Drake’s ghostwriter. There was a lot more grandstanding on Twitter about writers credited on Drake’s own album, other rappers taking sides, the Nicki Minaj of it all, and the whole idea of ghostwriters in rap as a larger idea. Vs. Drake Drake, for his part, stayed off of Twitter and above the fray, preferring to respond by diss track. That diss track, “Charged Up” was followed by “Back To Back,” after Meek Mill responded with a track of his own that was forgotten once “Back To Back” came out. Meek Mill might have a point about Drake’s ghostwriter, and he might even have kickstarted a conversation about them, but acting like this feud is even on the same level as the one between Tupacand Biggie Smalls is just overreaching, which makes him look ridiculous. 5. Miley Cyrus Vs. Sinead O’Connor The Miley Cyrus/Sinead O’Connor feud was born out of a strange maternal instinct. When Miley Cyrus told Rolling Stone that her “Wrecking Ball” video was inspired by Sinead O’Connor’s video for “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Sinead O’Connor fired back with an open letter, and in that letter, she said some things: “I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos. It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether it[‘]s the music business or yourself doing the pimping.” Clearly, O’Connor isn’t cool with some of Cyrus’s decision making. However, Miley Cyrus did not take any of that sitting down. She took to Twitter, like many celebrities often do, and posted some of O’Connor’s old Tweets, and used them to compare her to Amanda Bynes, who was in the middle of her infamous breakdown at the time. The Tweets date back to when she was looking for a psychiatrist. O’Connor took to Facebook to respond: “Miley … Really? Who … is advising you? Because taking me on is even more … stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism,” O’Connor wrote, continuing in another post, “Ms. Cyrus has today posted tweets of mine which are two years old and which were sent when I was ill and seeking medical help. She has done this in an attempt to deliberately cause me harm and hurt.” The feud kept going back and forth across different social media platforms from there, and it really wasn’t pretty. 4. Donald Trump Vs. Rosie O’Donnell Rosie O’Donnell is one of the many people who can say that they’ve had a feud with everybody’s favorite Republican used makeup sponge. The tale of her feud with Donald Trump goes back to 2006, when O’Donnell slammed Trump for not firing then Miss USA Tara Conner, saying that she’d never liked him and that he’s gone bankrupt before (a claim that Trump has denied at debates), and even said that he’s a “snake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie.” Trump responded by saying: “I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements — and it’ll be fun. Rosie’s a loser. A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie.” There was a time in 2007 where Trump actually sided with O’Donnell, back when she disagreed withElisabeth Hasselbeck over the Iraq War, and Trump was remarkably nice about O’Donnell’s heart attack in 2012, but that was not the end of the feud. When O’Donnell announced that she was getting married in 2011, Trump went on to say that he felt sorry for the parents of her then fiance, who had to deal with the prospect of their daughter marrying O’Donnell. He’s also been calling her a loser for years now. 3. Donald Trump Donald Trump’s feuds don’t just stop at Rosie O’Donnell: he’s even feuding with the sitting President! Not only has Barack Obama been throwing shade at Donald Trump’s aspirations for his job for years now, he’s gone on record as saying that he doesn’t think Donald Trump would be a very good president at all. They came to a truce in 2013, but that truce ended pretty abruptly, with them slamming each other in a huge argument at the set of a TV show and pulling out of a family counseling meeting. Dina sued Michael for child support payments in 2015 for their son Cody, but Michael has insisted that he does pay, he just pays his children directly: “My lawyer has a copy of the $30,000 check I gave to Dina, which was supposed to be used for Cody’s down payment for his truck. She spent $20,000 of it and never reported that to child support, so I had to give Cody another $20,000. That’s $50,000 she never reported!
