2. Rafa Benitez
For many fans, this rivalry has reduced given the leagues and team’s they both coach. Benitez finds himself at Newcastle which play in a lower tier in England, while Mourinho is aiming to return Manchester United to old glories.
Before all the coolness, it is worth nothing these two have a history.
Mou wanted the Liverpool job in 2004, but Benitez was appointed, with the latter leading the Reds to European glory after defeating Mourinho’s Chelsea in the semi-final via what the Portuguese called a ghost goal from Luis Garcia.
After Mou left Chelsea on 2006, he joined Inter Milan in 2010 and Benitez replaced him, with the duo regularly discussing their trophy hauls in the media.
Benitez moved to the Blues in 2013 and led them another European glory (Europa League) and also Real Madrid in 2015, two years after Mourinho left them in 2013 which led to the Protuguese claiming Benitez was following his career path.
It is safe to say the Spaniard has a better head-to-head record against the ‘Special One’.
