1. George Weah – Politician
Goerge Weah still remains the only African to win FIFA’s prestigious Ballon d’Or award for the world’s best footballer.
However, many didn’t see the former AC Milan chasing her career in politics after his retirement as a player in 2003, at the age of 37.
In mid-November 2004, Weah ran in the October 2005 presidential election. He was widely considered a favourite in the election, and was the candidate for the Congress for Democratic Change. However, he finished runner-up in a closely-fought run-off with incumbent Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
However, he will have a second attempt at becoming the president of Liberia when Liberians march to the poll in 2017.
