The Nigerian music industry has probably never experienced the amount of buzz it experienced this year.
Of course, it would be almost impossible to fully recount them all for obvious reasons. In terms of recognition, global penetration, and quality of music, 2018 superseded previous years, which is why it may go down as one of the most memorable years in the Nigerian music industry.
From the likes of Zlatan, Naira Marley, Fireboy DML to the likes of Rema, Odunsi and Joeboy, the year 2019 came bringing sweet gifts of success.

1. Fireboy DML
This young artiste signed on to Olamide’s record YBNL is definitely one singer that took everybody by surprise. He first came into limelight with the hit song, Jealous.
Shortly after, Fireboy whose real name is Adedamola Adefolahan, released his debut album, Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps which took everyone by surprise with its powerful depth, delicious rhythm and amazing tempo. Safe to say, Fireboy is one of Olamide’s best investments in the year 2019.
2. Rema
Real name, Divine Ikubor, this Mavin signee is yet another reason that shows Don Jazzy has remained a don in the music industry for over a decade now.
The youngster who was signed on to the label early 2019, left many music lovers buzzing with excitement when after series of freestyle, he dropped the hit single, Dumebi and it has been one impressive hell of a journey with the singer!

3. Joeboy
Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, is another singer whose rise to fame happened in the year 2019. His song, Baby grew amazingly fast on many Nigerians home and abroad and can be described as some sort of a national anthem in the love songs department.
Joeboy who is signed to Mr Eazi’s record was first discovered when he did a cover of British singer, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You.

4. Naira Marley

Described as one of the most influential Nigerian music stars, Naira Marley whose gradual rise to fame started in 2018 but gained massive recognition in the year 2019 with controversial songs like Am I A Yahoo Boy and Soapy enjoying massive airplay across the country.
Despite his brief stint in EFCC custody for allegations bothering on suspicions of cybercrimes, he appeared to have come out stronger and with an even stronger fan base.

Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael is also another Nigerian singer who owned the music scene in the year 2019. His song with Burna Boy, Killin Dem was one of the many favourites of Nigerians and following the massive airplay it received, Zlatan has gone on to release hit songs like Shotan, This Year and Bolanle.
While these are not all the Nigerian artistes that came into limelight, these are some of the few who have left quite an impression in the hearts of many music lovers.
