Police brutality has been brought to fore once again after a new video surfaced online on Friday, revealing the brutal activities of officers in the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, on a civilian.
The “cruel physical violence” of the unidentified police officers from the SARS unit, emphatically, was illuminated by a twitter user that witnessed the brutality, documented it on camera and shared on social media.
The police officers can be seen trying to arrest a man in the video forcefully, using several violent methods even when they had handcuffed him already. A close observation of the video showed how they tried to put a second cuff in his hand and his right leg, putting him in an extremely discomforting posture.
One of the officers was also heard threatening the man with death in Yoruba language, “O tii ku”, he said, which translates as “You are dead”.
The twitter user, @AzAbdulhakeem, who shared the video gave a short summary of the event. He wrote;
Happening live at Oko-Oba Central Mosque, Oke Odo, Ilorin.
What could have been his offence to make
@PoliceNG
officers treat a human being like this?
They even fired a live round with this population of civilians around?”
