A joyous celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for the Miller family when a drunk driver crashed into the golf cart carrying newlyweds, Samantha and Thomas Miller.
The accident took place just hours after the couple’s wedding ceremony on a beautiful South Carolina beach.
Sadly, 34-year-old Samantha Miller lost her life in the accident, while three others, including her groom, were left injured. Thomas is currently hospitalised and in critical condition, fighting for his life.
The incident has left the family devastated and struggling with the financial burden of funeral expenses and medical bills. Thomas’s mother has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of the couple’s sudden and unexpected tragedy.
The pictures of the newlyweds, taken just moments before the accident, capture their happiness and love for each other. However, their hopes and dreams for a future together were shattered in an instant when a reckless driver crashed into their golf cart.
Investigations reveal that the suspect, Jamie Lee Komoroski, was driving at a shocking speed of 65 mph (105 km/h) on the island where the speed limit is only 25 mph (40 km/h). Data retrieved from her rental car shows that she barely hit the brakes before colliding with the golf cart.
Komoroski has been charged with reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of driving under the influence causing death. If found guilty, she faces up to 25 years in prison on each count. She is currently in police custody, and it remains unclear whether she has a lawyer to represent her.
The loss of Samantha Miller has left a permanent void in the hearts of her loved ones. Her tragic fate serves as a painful reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the need for responsible behaviour behind the wheel.
