In the eponymous cut “Marshall Mathers,” Marshall raps something that sounds like: “It doesn’t matter …. F*ggot!” However, that line was actually partially censored, almost certainly at the recommendation of a wise Interscope lawyer. The line was originally said: “It doesn’t matter [your attorney Fred Gibson’s a] f*ggot. Fred Gibson was Marshall’s mom’s (Debbie’s) attorney at the time when she sued her son.
And in “I’m Back” Em got expurgated for two words: “I take seven [kids] from [Columbine], stand ‘em all in line…” Thankfully, he filled in the blanks for us 13 years later in “Rap God” on the album’s sequel.
