#4 Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal
It’s been nearly 10 years since Cristiano Ronaldo emerged on the world stage with the Portuguese national team. He was just a 19-years-old playing in the 2004 European Championships, but he got his first taste of the heartache to follow, when Portugal was upset on its home soil by Greece 1-0 in the final. Ronaldo has emerged as an exceptional striker since then, but he has had mixed results in subsequent championship appearances. Now, he comes full circle, to try and deliver his first Champions League title to Real Madrid, and at the same time, give them the caunted “decima” the Merengues have been clamoring for for more than a decade. At home, at the Estadio do Luz, the site of his first professional heartbreak, Ronaldo can make amends.
