In Athens, the Mediterranean breeze that makes so much of the country pleasant, picks up sand and dirt for a painful sensory experience. It’s also not as tourist-friendly as you may think, with a group of remarkable attractions (the Parthenon, the Acropolis…) that lack in any visitor-friendly plaques or labels for context and a local populace that doesn’t exactly embrace its tourists with open arms.
