Robin Thicke and Pharell‘s ‘Blurred Lines’ was the song of the summer. However, the artists were forced to turn the music down when the family of Marvin Gaye accused them of using a sample from Gaye’s song ‘Got To Give It Up’. The case went to court, and the Gaye family was awarded $7.4 million.Rapper T.I., who was also featured on Blurred Lines, released a joint statement with Thicke and Pharrell and stated that the verdict “sets a horrible precedent for music and creativity.” The artists continue to maintain that they didn’t take the song from “anyone or anywhere else.”
