4. Jill Scott
Jill Scott may be a beloved poet, actor, singer, and songwriter, but she was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. She has been quoted as stating she’s no longer a practicing member of this religion, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she has completely stepped away from it or left it altogether. She has one child, a son, and continues to inspire people in life. Her music and voice help to make people feel better about themselves and for that, there’s no need for her to make any excuses or apologies for her choices to leave the church behind.
3. Ja Rule
Rapper Ja Rule may be covered in tattoos and his music may not appeal to everyone, but one thing is clear: he is no longer a Jehovah’s Witness. He was raised in the religion, but when his mother was disfellowshipped, he lost all interest and also left it behind. When a person is disfellowshipped, they are essentially kicked out of the faith and are not welcomed to return. It’s hard to imagine a religion with so many rules not disfellowshipping many others.
