3. He Almost Turned Down Die Hard
It is amazing to think that Rickman almost turned down the role that helped him launch his movie career. When he was first offered Die Hard, back in 1987, it was only two days after he had landed in LA. Rickman admitted that he had no idea what went into making a movie, but was a huge fan of how the film portrayed African Americans.
Rickman stated “every single black character in that film is positive and highly intelligent. So, 28 years ago, that’s quite revolutionary, and quietly so.” Rickman was also not a fan of having his character dress up in full on terrorist gear, and instead suggested that the character be wearing a suit. While he was originally told “Get the hell out of here, you’ll wear what you’re told” we all know how the movie ended up looking!
