I can’t step out without bra – Shirley Igwe

In a chat with Nigeriafilms.com, the talented actress, who was in Lagos for the just-concluded film festival, AFRIFF, narrated how she started her modelling career.

The easy-going lady also told Nigeriafilms.com that she did not have to sleep around to get jobs as a model some years ago.

Who is the most interesting person you have ever met?

That will be my parents because they have played important roles in my life.

Your dream relaxation destination?

I will pick Paris again because I have been there before and it was lovely.

Hurdles faced as a model?

I actually did not have any hurdles to scale; I just came, took photos, where I took them and met some agents who thought my photos were beautiful and they presented it to advertising agencies, who likes them.

Did you have to use your body to get modelling jobs?

No, I don’t know how people do what they do but for me, I never had such experience from agent or anybody. So I’m speaking for myself because it was hard work for me. It was the grace of God because I just submitted my pictures and they liked them.

Why are you still not married?

I feel God’s time is the best. Nothing is holding me; I just feel God’s time is the best.

What is your favourite fashion outfit?

I like wearing anything that is good on me; that will just make me feel comfortable.

Do you go out without wearing a bra like some ladies do now?

(Laughs) Well, have you ever seen me go out without bra? Look at me now, imagine me going out without bra, what would you think; I honestly have my bra on so I can’t do that.

But why do you think ladies do it?

I don’t know, but I feel it depends on their b00bs size. Their b00bs size might just be four or so and they are big, they might not need to wear bra. But as for me, I can’t go even come out my bedroom without bra (laughs).

What is your view of broke marriages in showbiz industry?

I wonder how that happens because I love homes, I’m a homely person and I don’t think anything can stand between my job and my home. My home is first because I don’t know how they really get to do that, but for me, one has to strike a balance.

Can you sacrifice your career for your home?

I can’t abandon my career but I will try to manage both. But when I get to the bridge I will know how to cross it.

Can pound crayfish?

Of course, I can pound food stuffs now, don’t mind my looks.

How about cooking local dishes?

I cook all kinds of dishes; you can’t stand me in the kitchen.
