If you recall the statement from Justice Deborah Oluwayemi on Friday, March 11 when she passed the five-year jail sentence, you will see exactly how unfitting and ridiculous it is to take another man’s life, be it accidental or not, and then go on to pay a paltry sum as a fine. It is really sad.
Justice Oluwayemi stated in clear words that:
“The nature of the offence is so grave that I do not know how he (the magistrate) came about an option of fine. Justice is a three-way affair.”
And the reason for this is simple, because “N100,000 fine is not a reasonable judgment for someone who has taken the life of another person.”

There are rumours that the embattled actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, was tipsy on the day of the ill-fated incident which claimed the life of Dr. Giwa Suraj 11 years ago.
But we do not have proof of this, neither can we corroborate because traffic policemen in Nigeria are not equipped enough to conduct breathalyzer tests or anything close.

1. Justice delayed is not justice denied
