And even though there are some very friendly animals, some exist in this world that have the power to terrify us just by looking at them. It shows some very insane looking creatures from fish with teeth the length of a hand, to bats with faces that look like the aftermath of a terrible accident. While none of these animals will be getting the love they deserve, it’s probably for the best, considering most of them are actually very dangerous and not to be messed with by the public. Unfortunately, that hasn’t stopped many from trying their hand at testing fate with foolish bravery. Nonetheless, here fifteen of the scariest animals the world has ever seen. And as the sign always says, ‘Look, but do not touch.’ 15. Fangtooth Fish This scary looking fish doesn’t exactly appeal to the normal beauty standards. With terrifying cloudy, and bulgy eyes, dark colors and very large, sharp teeth, this isn’t exactly a fish someone would want to mess with. While the Fangtooth is not known to be very aggressive, it does, like most fish with aggressive looks, have a tendency to defend itself. Its obvious name comes from its stunning teeth. And while pictures of the fish may make it appear as though it is a large monster, the Fangtooth is actually only six inches long. But its teeth are so large, special pockets exist on the roof of its mouth, for the teeth on the lower jaw to slide into. In actuality, that makes the Fangtooth’s teeth very, very big. Fortunately, the fish’s eyesight doesn’t tend to be very good, considering it lurks in waters normally so deep, it is always dark. Scientists believe that the only way the Fangtooth has of catching food is by simply bumping into its prey. However, six inches or not, it certainly doesn’t look like a fish anyone would want to be bumping into. 14. Asian Giant Hornets Known as the largest hornet in the world, these insects can be found mostly in Eastern Asia. Even though there exists a threat to their survival in the wild, this doesn’t take away from the fact that these hornets are both aggressive and capable of killing a human being. The hornets can grow up to two inches in length, accompanied by a wingspan of three inches. Compared to other hornets, that is a very large insect. Sometimes referred to as the Giant Sparrow Bee, the Asian Giant Hornet is considered to be predatory. They are mixed with colors of yellow, brown and orange all along their bodies, and possess a 0.25 inch long stinger (used to inject venom). If stung, the hornet is considered venomous, especially for children and the elderly. The hornet also poses a threat for young adults as well, but only for those who tend to be allergic to stinging insects. The venom in their sting destroys red blood cells, which often leads to terrible physical effects and sometimes death. 13. Giant Japanese Spider Crab The best word used to describe this creature would simply be: terrifying. Just like its name suggests, the Japanese Spider Crab is very, very giant. It has legs that can grow up to three feet, with a leg span usually about 12 feet. These giant crabs can weigh up to 42 pounds, and easily make a scene in the ocean. The deep and dark parts of the ocean floor are usually where these crabs call home. And because of the pressure of the harsh depths, this makes them very strong and adaptable to the deep ocean environment. These scary crabs have a very long and obvious reach, with claws that can cause some massive injuries when they feel like it. They are very smart, but have been known to eat pretty much anything smaller than they are. From algae to the smaller fish that roam the ocean, these crabs will put their pincers on anything. 12. Coconut Crab Considered one of the largest crabs in the world, the Coconut Crab is certainly not a creature you would want to run into in the middle of the night. They will mostly be found in the tropical Indo-Pacific Region, especially on small islands and such. While the crab isn’t necessarily a threat to humans, it will defend itself if threatened. That being said, the Coconut Crab has large claws which are so strong they can break open a coconut, hence its famous name. The crabs are mostly harmless but tend to spend a large amount of their time on land, only needing minimal amounts of water. When faced with a challenge, the crab is actually quite smart and will figure out its circumstances, however slowly. There are stories of the crabs roaming neighborhoods, stealing small animals and taking them away to be eaten, but of course, these stories can’t be confirmed. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is one strong and scary creature. 11. Wrinkle Faced Bat Most bats are scary to look at, but the Wrinkle Faced Bat is an entirely different story. Often considered to have a face only a mother could love, the Wrinkle Faced Bat is a creature that lives in the jungle lands of Central America. These ugly looking bats have a tendency for turning faces, however, not much is truly known about their ugly appearance. Some scientists believe, because of their strange shaped skulls, they have a bite which is 20% stronger than most bats, giving it the ability to feed on fruits that are tough and otherwise inedible by other types of bats. And while the Wrinkle Faced Bat isn’t a terrible threat, it can certainly be considered one of the scariest animals in the world. Walking around in the jungles of Central America late at night and running into one of these things would not prove to be a pleasant experience. Especially without the knowledge of what these creatures are capable of. 10. Bullet Ant If pain is your thing, perhaps you would like to take a look at the Bullet Ant. Its size isn’t what should concern most people, though. The Bullet Ant is actually known as the giver of the most painful sting in the world. Many people have compared the pain of the sting to the pain of being shot. It certainly is not a pleasant experience. Many tribes in the Amazon actually hold rituals for men involving the ants. For some of the tribes, to become a man, one must wear gloves filled with these ants and endure the pain. But why do these stings hurt so much? The venom from the Bullet Ant is so potent and it creates some very interesting side effects. Many people have reported trembling as their main symptom apart from the pain. While the sting isn’t known to kill you, the pain in which you experience from this harmless looking critter is certain to make you wish for death. 9. Wolverine When you speak the word wolverine, the first thought that probably comes to mind is that of the famous Wolverine from the Marvel comic book universe. However, the wolverine we are talking about now isn’t entirely far from the animistic nature of the famous superhero. The wolverine is actually a very fierce animal that lives in the wild, and it isn’t an animal you would want to meet. Although they resemble a small bear, wolverines are actually, believe it or not, a member of the weasel family; the largest, to be exact. These animals are very solitary and will often travel great distances each day in order to find food. And while it may look like a cute creature at first, the wolverine is actually very ferocious. They have been known to take down animals much larger than themselves and yes, they have even killed humans. Many people joke that these animals will stop at nothing to tear apart their prey, especially when threatened. They are considered to be one of the most dangerous animals on the planet. 8. Brazilian Wandering Spider Often considered to be one of the most venomous spiders in the world, the Brazilian Wandering Spider is a wonder to look at, but a creepy and lethal spider. These creatures can grow up to two inches wide, with their highly toxic venom built up within their bodies just waiting to be delivered via their large fangs. The spider gets it name from its terrible habit to simply show up in highly populated areas for no known scientific reason. Certainly not the best thing to hear when planning a trip to Brazil. These spiders also have a reputation for biting people, making them even more dangerous than they already are. But the spider doesn’t just have one name. Many people know the spider as the Banana Spider or the Armored Spider. While there are antivenoms for this type of spider, it’s certainly not the one you want to be bitten by as the bite has been known to be deadly, especially to children. 7. Death-Stalker Scorpion If you’re looking for a creature that is smaller in size but packs a tremendous punch when it comes to its venom, the Death-Stalker Scorpion is the creature for you. With such a small dose of venom, you would think that this small scorpion wouldn’t pose a threat against something as giant as a human, however, because of the neurotoxin from the sting of the scorpion, the poison can be deemed as fatal if not treated. Children as well as the elderly are especially prone to the effects of the toxins, however, whenever an adult is stung by the scorpion, the pain is enough to make you wish you were somewhere else. Fortunately, there is an antivenom for the sting, however, the dose for it is very large and takes quite a long time to take effect. The scorpion has been deemed the most poisonous in the world and with good reason. No one in their right mind would want to be stung by such a deadly creature. 6. Bull Shark This may seem like a strange addition to the list, but the Bull Shark has been known on many occasions to attack without reason. Out of all the sharks in the sea, apart from the Great White, this is certainly the shark to be afraid of. While its pictures do not do it justice, there are certainly a lot of factors which make this shark a formidable foe. These types of sharks do not care what or where you are. If you are in the water, it’s their duty to check you out. And how do sharks check you out exactly? Many experts have learned that by biting, sharks get a “taste” of what they are inspecting. While this is perfectly normal for the shark, for us humans, it doesn’t exactly bode well. People are advised at all times to leave the waters if there is ever a Bull Shark spotted in ocean waters. What makes this creatures even scarier is the fact that Bull Sharks often swim in shallow waters, making the idea of swimming in the ocean just a little bit more horrid. 5. Black Mamba Often considered the world’s deadliest snake, this dangerous creature has been known to be the cause of many human deaths. Unlike other snakes, the Black Mamba’s venom is highly deadly, and poses a threat to any and every human being. It is said that the snake’s venom is so potent, the toxins contained in one bite are enough to kill ten men! That’s enough poison to kill you within a few minutes if you are bitten. Fortunately, an antivenom has been created that allows for a recovery, however, because the toxins are so deadly, the death rate due to these snakes continues to be what it is. Fortunately for us, the Black Mamba has a habit of running as fast as it can away from anything larger than itself. Some people say it can even dart away at speeds of 12 miles per hour. That is a very fast snake, and not a slithering fiend you would want to find hiking along a trail. 4. Hippopotamus There may be a lot of children’s books with hippos as characters that are gentle or boring, but the real life animal is something entirely different. These animals can be very aggressive and have actually been known to kill people. What you think you know about these creatures is probably an altered perception of the real thing. They are very territorial and have been seen protecting their young at any cost. Some say that they can run at speeds of twenty miles per hour, and with a hippo normally weighing around 7,000 pounds, that’s a lot of force coming towards you at such speeds. However, as long as they are left alone, these creatures tend to mind their own business and not really bother anyone else around them, as long as there are great distances between them and humans. But still, with such a large animal capable of running after you, it’s best to steer clear of them when possible. 3. Wolf Fish These fish are some of the scariest you will ever encounter. When you first hear the name, a fish and a wolf combined don’t really make sense, but it isn’t the fish’s appearance which gives it its ferocious name. The Wolf Fish has been known to many as a brave and fearless fish when it comes to catching its prey. Some fisherman have even noted that they’ve witnessed these fish jumping into their canoes in order to catch their prey. At first the fish doesn’t appear to be any type of threat, but after they open their mouth, you realize you’re in for trouble. A lining of sharp teeth lie within the Wolf Fish’s mouth. And while they aren’t known to always be aggressive, they certainly have their moments. Weighing in over thirty pounds, these fish mean business. An encounter with these fish in the wild requires extra caution, especially when traveling in a canoe down the river. 2. Cone Snail Regarding the nature of the Cone Snail, there isn’t much that can be said about its fast actions or rebel lifestyle, simply because that is not what the Cone Snail is all about. At first glance, the six inch snail is small but beautiful, with brown and white patterns all along its shell. But what makes this snail so scary is the amount of poison its packing behind that shell. One stick of this poison is enough to kill twenty men. Another unfortunate fact, if you are injected with this snail’s venom, there is no antidote. The only solution is to wait out the course of the venom, preferably in a hospital, and wait to see if the venom kills you. Believe it or not, these little snails are classified as carnivores, fortunately, that isn’t the part that makes them so dangerous to humans. 1. Mosquito Believe it or not, these are the scariest creatures you will ever find. Some of them are only the size of your thumb, while others are just slightly bigger. When it comes to their appearance, they don’t look very threatening until you get very close. But regardless, their appearance isn’t what makes them so dangerous. Mosquitos, despite their very small size, actually pose a very large threat to every human on the planet. They are unique in the fact that they can carry so many different diseases and transmit them to any human on the planet. The unfortunate thing is that there isn’t really a way to avoid these small flying creatures, considering they are located in so many areas of the world, with some species carrying many more diseases making it much worse to live in those areas.
