Bernardo Silva began his career with Benfica at youth level, aged eight, before progressing through the ranks to the senior squad. He made his debut for Benfica during their treble-winning 2013/14 season. Making most of his appearances for the B squad however, he was named the Segunda Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2013/14, having claimed the October, December and January Player of the Month awards
