Gospel singer and songwriter, Mercy Chinwo is a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music industry. The powerful vocalist recently turned 29 years old and was gifted a car as birthday gift.

Early Life
Born on September 5, 1990, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Mercy Nnenda Chinwo is the first daughter and the fourth child in a family of five. She, however, lost her dad at a very young age.
She got involved in music at a very early age, being a member of the children’s choir in her church and transitioning to the adult choir prior to launching her musical career.
Career
Chinwo first came to prominence after winning Nigerian Idol Season 2 in 2012 where she won N7.5 million, a mouth-watering recording contract and a Sports Utility Vehicle.
She landed her first film role in Yvonne Nelson’s film, House of Gold starring alongside Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, and Omawumi among others in 2013.
She dropped her first single titled ‘Testimony’ in 2015 and released her second single titled Igwe a year later.
She signed to Gospel Music Label EeZee Conceptz who also manages Frank Edwards in 2017.
Her major breakthrough, however, came in 2018 with the song ‘Excess Love’ which gained so much popularity.
Chinwo has released other songs such as “Omeka Nnaya”, “On a Regular”, “No More Pain”, “Trust”, amongst many others.
She also recently released a new song on her birthday titled ‘AKAMDILENU’.
Awards
In 2018, Mercy Chinwo was awarded the Best Gospel Artiste at the CLIMAX Awards 2018. In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019) Mercy Chinwo was named the winner in three categories namely Africa Gospel New Artist of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artist of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year (Excess Love).

Chinwo is currently unmarried and not much is known about her personal life.
