The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has celebrated Hilda Baci for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
The record was initially held by an Indian Chef, Lata Tondon, who cooked for over 87 hours.
Hilda Baci had a goal to beat the initial record by cooking for 96 hours. However, despite surpassing her initial goal, the chef has decided to carry on to 100 hours.
Reacting to her victory, President Buhari wrote:
“I share the immense joy of all Nigerians as Hilda Bassey Effiong (Hilda Baci) makes history by breaking the world record for longest cooking marathon. A great day for Nigeria. We’re all very proud of what she has personally accomplished—and placing Nigeria in the global spotlight”
