Golden Eaglets’ striker, Light Eke, has expressed his satisfaction over the team’s outstanding performance in their victory against South Africa at the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
Despite conceding twice during the game, Nduka Ugbade’s team made an impressive comeback to secure a 3-2 win.
In a short video posted on the NFF’s Twitter handle, Eke stated that the team gave their all during the match.
He said, “It was a good match. We gave our all. From the beginning, we knew that we came for a win. We listened to our coaches, so we worked hard during the match, gave it our all with team effort, all thanks to God.”
Eke also gave credit to the fans in Constantine, Algeria, for their immense support throughout the match. He described them as “great” and said that they made the game entertaining.
The Golden Eaglets finished second in Group B behind the Atlas Cubs of Morocco and will now face either Cameroon or Burkina Faso in the quarterfinals.
