Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, has expressed his surprise at the decision to overturn the red card given to Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior.
The 22-year-old Brazilian footballer was initially shown a red card for slapping Valencia’s Hugo Duro after allegedly being subjected to racial abuse by the opposing team’s fans.

However, on Tuesday, May 23, the Spanish football federation’s Competition Committee announced that they had accepted Real Madrid’s complaint and rescinded Vinicius’ red card after reviewing the video footage.
In the footage reviewed by the committee, a clip of Duro grabbing the Real Madrid player around the neck with his arm was reportedly omitted before the red card decision was made.
Xavi, who had previously voiced his support for Vinicius regarding the racial abuse he endured, stated that he believed the red card decision should have been upheld following the altercation with Hugo Duro.
