A young lady, simply identified as Debbie has accused popular reality TV star, Mercy Eke of neglecting to repay a huge debt totalling N1 million after the reality program ended.
Debbie used ‘Twitter space’ to address the problem, stating that Mercy Eke and her sister, Promise, had not keep to their end of their financial agreement to purchase premium “ICUs” to vote for Mercy during her time on the popular reality television show.
She explained that she had received threats and intimidation from Mercy’s sister, Promise, after addressing issues in public.
According to Debbie, Mercy’s sister refused to repay the debt because Mercy did not win the BBNaija competition, instead finishing as the runner-up.
Debbie’s statements have elicited conflicting reactions from fans and followers of the reality star, as well as those who have been following the issue closely.
In addition, other supporters came out to reveal purported information that Mercy Eke had set aside a large sum of N4 million to buy votes in order to win the reality show.
The controversy began soon after Promise, Mercy’s sister, publicly criticized the BBNaija production team for her sister’s second-place finish in the competition. Promise claimed that both she and a group of supporters referred to as “mercenaries” had put in a lot of overtime to make sure Mercy won.
