7. Whoopi Goldberg
This actress, comedian, singer, talk show, political activist and author host was the first African American woman to host the Academy Awards solo in 1994. She is also in the EGOT Winner’s Circle: an elite group to have won an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony and an Emmy. She won her first Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Celie in “The Color Purple” in 1985. It was also her film debut! Whoopi became moderator of the longtime-running daytime talk show “The View” in 2007. We’ll always love her for work in “Ghost” playing the wacky psychic Oda Mae Brown alongside Patrick Swayze, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1990.
