#3. Carlos Tevez and the third part ownership
Back in 2007, West Ham were fined £5.5 million for allowing two-third parties to own rights on their players, Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. It turned out that the Argentine striker had been loaned out to West Ham from an investment firm who owned his rights, a practice which was later banned in football. Tevez helped the Hammers remain in the top flight, and Sheffield were relegated instead.
