4. Volusia County – Florida
Florida is known as the sunshine state. There is so much to do in Florida including partying in Miami and going to Disney in Orlando, making it an extremely popular travel destination for both old and young. However, in 2013 it made headlines for having the highest amount of shark attacks that year. Although Florida is beautiful, the beaches are infested with sharks, especially in Volusia County. There have been more sightings of sharks on the coast than in all of South Africa, which is known for their sharks. Although the majority of shark attacks are not fatal, it still is enough to instill fear in beach goers.
