Russell directed the dramatic short documentary Kony 2012, a video which has been seen over 100 million times on YouTube. He also is the founder of the nonprofit Invisible Children.

However, at the height of the attention Russell was receiving for Kony, he had a breakdown. The filmmaker ended up running around naked, culminating in a scene of public masturbation on a street corner in San Diego, California. Later, Russell said it was an “out of body experience” in referring to the breakdown. Seems like he was enjoying his body just fine.
