From snake bites to “foxy” wedding planners, there has been something interesting that has happened to completely ruin a ceremony. After the Attitude Era had come and gone, it seemed like the WWE went crazy with weddings with five weddings over the course of three years. After that period, the weddings have slowed down dramatically with only two since 2008. One reason for this could be the fact that we know who is with each other in real life thanks to the access we get with the internet and social media. Weddings within the WWE have come in all shapes and sizes. There was a wedding of true love, there was one that was more of a sacrificial ritual than a true wedding, there was one that was ruined thanks to a drive-thru wedding preceding it, there was even a ceremony between two men well ahead of its time in the national spotlight. Also, who could forget Lita and Edge being involved in more than one wedding? While there have been more than 10 weddings in the history of the WWE, the following 10 within this article stand out for various reasons. 10. Miss Elizabeth & Randy Savage (August 26, 1991)

Many may think that the wedding between the “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth was the first for the WWE, but it was actually the second one. The very first one took place on Saturday Night’s Main Event between Uncle Elmer and Joyce from the Hillbilly Jim camp. Miss Elizabeth was the valet and manager for Savage from basically his beginnings in the WWE back in 1985. He was the hot free agent that all of the hot-shot managers wanted to get in their fold including Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, and “Classy” Freddie Blassie. The wedding took place at the SummerSlam pay per view in 1991. In a rare moment for the WWE weddings, the ceremony itself did not have any incidents; however, at the reception, there was a gift from Jake Roberts that contained a cobra that took a nice healthy bite out of Savage’s arm. Stephanie McMahon & The Undertaker (April 26, 1999) In 1999, The Undertaker was the leader of a cult-like group called The Ministry Of Darkness that had members such as The Brood and The Acolytes. They would cause havoc in the WWF by feuding with the likes of Kane, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and even The Corporation. In the spring of 1999, Undertaker would abduct Vince McMahon‘s daughter Stephanie forcing Vince in an unlikely alliance with Austin to rescue her. Undertaker would say that he was answering to a higher power, and this power forced a marriage between himself and Stephanie. Paul Bearer would officiate the ceremony while she was tied to the Undertaker’s symbol in a sacrificial way. Thankfully it was Austin to the rescue before the ceremony was complete. Then later on it was revealed that the higher power was none other than Vince himself. 8. Stephanie McMahon & Test (November 29, 1999) The wedding between Stephanie McMahon and Test is not only one of the greatest wedding segments of all-time, but it is also one of the best segments in Monday Night Raw history. After surviving the ordeal with the Undertaker (which was her WWF on-screen debut), she would go on to date Test who was the “hired gun” of The Corporation. This would start a rivalry with her brother Shane McMahon in a “Love Her or Leave Her” match. Test would win and propose to Stephanie. The ceremony was going as smooth as it could be until the question “does anybody object” was asked. Out came Triple H who had a video to show. That video was Triple H with a drugged Stephanie in a wedding drive-thru where they would become officially married, so the wedding with Test was abruptly over. 7. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H (February 11, 2002) After the incident in 1999, Stephanie completely hated Triple H, but would eventually would reveal that this was the plan all along to get back at her father Vince for the kidnapping by the Undertaker. As we all know, Triple H and Stephanie would become a couple in real-life as well as on-screen. The marriage between Triple H and Steph was starting to get rocky (no pun intended), and they were getting close to divorce. To try to save the marriage, Stephanie faked being pregnant to get Triple H to renew their wedding vows. Triple H knew better and found out the truth, but waited until the renewal of vows to leave her embarrassed at the altar. 6. Billy & Chuck (September 12, 2002) More than a decade before the nation as a whole worked towards legalizing gay marriage, there was the wedding ceremony between Billy and Chuck. This duo was comprised of Billy Gunn from Degeneration X fame, and Chuck Palumbo who came over in the WCW Invasion. Palumbo was kicked out of the Alliance and teamed with Gunn, and then things turned affectionate between the two. In 2002, Chuck proposed to Billy and he accepted. They would have a televised wedding on Smackdown, but as it was time to make things official, Billy and Chuck decided to come clean with the truth that this relationship was just a publicity stunt. They had taken it too far and admitted that they are strictly hetero. 5. Al Wilson & Dawn Marie (January 2, 2003) Dawn Marie is known best for being one of the lovely scantily clad ladies of ECW. She was there from 1998 until the end of the company in 2001. Much to the delight of her fans, she would sign with the WWE in 2002. She would feud with Torrie Wilson and in the process develop feelings for her father, the much older Al Wilson. They would have a wedding ceremony in the first SmackDown of 2003 where they would do the entire ceremony in their underwear, because who doesn’t want to see old man Wilson half naked? Unfortunately within the story lines, Al would die from being “oversexed”- yes, oversexed on the honeymoon. 4. Lita & Kane (August 23, 2004) After WrestleMania in 2004, there was a story line featuring then real-life couple Lita and Matt Hardywhere Matt was trying to protect Lita from harm by the hands of Kane. Over the course of a few weeks Kane would attack Hardy and try to seduce Lita all at the same time. Lita revealed she was pregnant and that prompted Matt to propose to her, but they were interrupted by Kane, who said it was his baby. This lead to a match at SummerSlam where Lita would be forced to marry the winner between Hardy and Kane. Lita and Kane would be married the next night on Raw, but Lita wasn’t happy with Kane as she would cost him the victory several matches later. A month later, Lita would have a miscarriage when Gene Snitsky knocked Kane into Lita which started Snitsky’s famous catch phrase “it wasn’t my fault.” 3. Edge & Lita (June 20, 2005) Lita would jump straight from Kane to Edge in the Summer of 2005 after Lita turned on Kane during a match with Edge in a tournament for the number 1 contender of the WWE Championship. Less than a month after leaving Kane, Lita would attempt to get married to Edge on an episode of Monday Night Raw. As with most weddings, it didn’t go as planned. During the ceremony, a vengeful Kane would appear through the floor of the wedding setup to crash the party. In what would be an iconic moment in WWE wedding history, Kane would tombstone the priest to cement his trip to hell when he dies. 2. Edge & Vickie Guerrero (July 18, 2008) At the Survivor Series in 2007, Edge made his return from injury to interfere in the WWE Championship match between Batista and Undertaker, and shortly after, Edge and SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero made their relationship public. Throughout the relationship Vickie would willingly abuse her powers to help Edge. Valentine’s Day 2008, Edge would propose to Vickie and they would go on to get married before a SmackDown event in July. While the ceremony was already completed, they had the reception live on Smackdown. A man who is no stranger to WWE weddings, Triple H came out to show a tape during the reception. It showed Edge making out with the wedding planner Alicia Fox, who is still wrestling for the company today. 1. AJ Lee & Daniel Bryan (July 23, 2012) AJ Lee and Daniel Bryan started an on-screen relationship late in 2011 (one of many for her in 2012, just check the Slammy nominees for Kiss Of The Year). Bryan would mistreat AJ, but she would continue to stick by his side until Bryan completely ended the relationship after blaming his 18-second loss to Sheamuson her. After months of making out with CM Punk (her current real-life husband) and Kane, Bryan would finally realize what he lost and proposed to AJ the week before the huge Raw 1,000 show. When they were exchanging vows, AJ said she had to clarify what she was saying yes too. She wasn’t saying yes to marrying Daniel Bryan.
