13. Fatima N. Adamu, Ghanaian – Carters Kaftans
After graduating from the University for Development Studies with a bachelor degree in Integrated Community Development Studies, Fatima N. Adamu, a 28 year-old Ghanaian entrepreneur started Carters Kaftans in 2012, by importing beautiful occasional kaftans from Indonesia, selling on wholesale and retails to the Ghanaian market, and later introduced her own line, modest wears from Turkey. Today, Fatima designs her own connection of modest wears. In a recent interaction with Fatima on her rise to the top, she said “I worked for an Energy Policy Company on completion but my zeal for entrepreneurship outweighed the Corporate world, hence the decision to start a business and being able to do something I loved most. Although I had lots of ideas in the beginning, I chose to go into fashion because of my love for colours and creativity at coming up with designs. I do not know how to sketch but I know how to put two and two together and make it look beautiful. Friends would contact me to help pick their clothes or help them shop, so I started Carters Kaftans by importing beautiful occasional kaftans from Indonesia in the late 2012. I then registered my Company in February 2013 and supplied kaftans on wholesale and retail to the Ghanaian market. As time went by, I noticed people were more attracted to the clothes I wore so I decided to introduce my new Line; Modest Wears from Turkey. Currently, I design my own Modest Wears as seen in the picture. I am poised to bring out better designs InshaAllah, so watch out people..!
