Popular comedienne, Adeherself, has been brought to trial again for allegedly deceiving and duping people online.
She was charged alongside two others according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Her charges were conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence, attempt to obtain money by false pretence, and retention of proceeds of criminal conduct.
However, she pleaded not guilty at the Ikeja special offence court before Justice Mojisola Dada and was granted bail on her first trial.
EFCC counsel, Mr Samuel Daji, Informed the court that since the case was re-arraigned, the defendant should be remanded pending the commencement of trial. He urged the court to demand a fresh bail application for the defendant since the judge for her last trial, Justice Sherifat Solebo has retired.
The defendant’s counsel, Mr Kassim Molade was against it and urged the court to retain the bail granted by Justice Solebo to the defendant pending the filing of a new bail application.
According to Molade, the defendant has not been absent from trial and makes herself available for trial. The judge consequently retained the bail for the defendant pending the re-application of a new bail by the defence counsel.
