Burkina Faso head coach, Brahima Traore, has declared that his team is ready to face the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria.
Traore stated that his team is determined to fight hard to secure a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
After securing their spot in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Cameroon on Sunday night, Traore’s side will now face the Golden Eaglets at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Thursday.
This will be the second meeting between both teams in less than a year after the Eaglets defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the final of the WAFU B Championship.
The winner of the quarter-final clash is guaranteed a place in the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and Traore is aware of the significance of the match. He has pledged that his team will prepare well for the game to ensure they come out victorious.
“We had two objectives in this tournament; first to get to the semi-finals and then to fight for the title. We will prepare well for Nigeria to enable us to get to the semis and earn the World Cup ticket,” Traore told CAFonline.
With both teams determined to secure a place in the semi-finals of the competition, the clash promises to be an exciting encounter.
The Golden Eaglets will be hoping to replicate their performance from the WAFU B Championship and progress to the next round of the competition.
