When a guy looks at his boo as more than someone to just hang out with at the beach or a partner on the scariest roller coaster rides, he’ll open up to her. How much do you know about him? Does he see you as a confidante? If he opens up to you about his feelings or emotions, especially after having a particularly long or stressful day at work, then chances are, you’re more to him than a summer fling. 12. HE OPENLY FLIRTS IN FRONT OF YOU If your man flirts with other women right in front of you or out in the open on social media, then guess what? He may not be your man for very long. In his mind, what the two of you have is probably just casual. If he were serious about you and the relationship, he would want you to know just that. One of the surest signs that what you have is just for the summer is if either one of you will go to (or back to) college in the fall. College is the perfect time for a lot of people to start fresh, and usually that means ditching the person you were hanging out with all summer. If your boyfriend is going away to college, chances are he’s going as a single guy, and if the school is out of state, then the chances are that much greater. And if you’re the one headed off, he might think that you’re not looking for anything serious. 10. IT’S AN OPEN RELATIONSHIP

Have you ever heard the saying, “How it starts is usually how it finishes?” Well, that can apply to an open relationship. If the two of you have been hooking up and the conversation about being exclusive hasn’t come up, then he probably doesn’t want things to head in that direction. Take the fact that he didn’t care whom you were with or what you were doing last Friday night as a sign. 9. HE DOESN’T TALK ABOUT A FUTURE At least not with you. And if he does talk about the future with you but he doesn’t include you in any of his plans, there’s a reason for that. He doesn’t see a future with you. 8. YOU’VE NEVER MET HIS FRIENDS OR FAMILY It’s only natural for a guy to want to wait several months before he introduces you to his friends or family. But if you haven’t so much as met a good friend or a cousin in three months, then he’s keeping you away from the ones he considers important in his life for a reason. 7. YOUR MOODS ARE NONE OF HIS CONCERN When you run to your boo with tears of frustration and you just want an ear to bend, a shoulder to cry on, or a sympathetic hug and all he has for you in return is a blank look on his face, he doesn’t care about you or your feelings. If he’s not willing and eager to do something — anything — to brighten your day even a little bit, then he’s not boyfriend material, and he probably could care less. 6. THE ONLY TIME YOU SEE HIM IS FOR SEX If the only time you hear from your summer boo is when he wants to see you with your clothes off, then that is not the makings of a serious relationship. No matter how much he turns you on, or you think that you’re the only one who can truly satisfy him, don’t be fooled into thinking you’re more than friends with benefits. 5. YOU’VE NEVER HAD A REAL CONVERSATION You know what can be really sexy? Having a conversation with someone who stimulates you intellectually. If you haven’t had a conversation with your guy about something more than who should’ve won the NBA Finals, then he probably doesn’t care how smart you are or have any desire to find out. 4. HE DOESN’T WANT TO LABEL WHAT YOU TWO HAVE If your summer buddy changes the subject or refuses to talk about taking your relationship to the next level, then he doesn’t want to be tied down. You probably won’t see him past September. 3. HE GOES M.I.A. There’s nothing worse than depending on a person who doesn’t come through for you when it really matters. If you’re stuck on the side of the highway with a flat tire and he doesn’t want to leave a party to come rescue you, that says a lot about where you stand in his life. 2. YOU TWO REALLY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON It’s very easy to have a lot of things in common with another person during the summer. Who doesn’t love to sleep in until noon, sip Mai Tai’s poolside all day, and party all night only to hit the reset button again in the morning? But if your eyes roll whenever he talks about sports or you want the ground to swallow you alive every time he speaks passionately about cars, you really don’t have much at all in common. 1. HE OPENLY SAYS IT’S JUST A FLING If a man tells you it’s just casual, believe him no matter how his smile makes you feel or how badly you fall for him. Don’t try to reason with yourself by saying that he’ll change his mind or he doesn’t know what he wants.
