Peter Beardsley Football may be known as the beautiful game but when it comes to some players that is not the case. Peter Beardsley is a case in point; the former England international was nicknamed “Quasimodo”. It looks like his face has been squashed up really then and punched on repeatedly. However, he really didn’t care what others thought about his appearance. Beardsley went on to play many years in the top flight with the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle United and Everton. Former Spanish international Ivan Campo might not make it to the GQ magazine but he didn’t let his looks affect his career. In fact, contrary to what most people think, Ivan Campo had a very decent career. He played for Real Madrid and Valencia and also was capped four times for the Spanish national team (not an easy team to break into). Campo had somewhat long curly hairs, a-la Carlos Puyol . #8. Luke Chadwick When you think of the ugliest football players, Luke Chadwick naturally springs to your mind. The former Manchester United winger featured in the Premier League as a promising lad. Chadwick suffered from the acne. His acne ridden face, however, didn’t scare defenders enough and he has since fallen to the lower of the English game. He now plays his trade with Cambridge in League Two. #7. Gervinho The Ivory Coast international is another player to feature in the unwanted list. Gervinho’s face is nothing out of the ordinary but his unusual head has earned him his place as an ugly footballer. His forehead just seems to go on forever eventually reaching the middle of his head. Gervinho arrived in England in 2011, after Arsenal spent £11 million on him, and he quickly became the butt of jokes among Premier League fans. #5. His scrunched up face is unfortunate, and the blonde hair doesn’t help either. Kuyt is another player who hasn’t let his looks affect his playing ability. #4. Francis Jeffers Once hailed as one of the promising young players in the Premier League, Francis Jeffers failed to live up to the expectations. Jeffers is best known for his flop move from Everton to Arsenal, but his ugly mug can’t be ignored too. A wobbly face and his obtruding ears certainly won’t qualify him for a model, but looks aside, Francis Jeffers didn’t fare well with Arsenal, scoring just 4 goals in two seasons. #3. However, Lescott has embraced his looks; he didn’t fell prey to some nasty jokes. On the contrary, he has been one of England’s best defenders in the last couple of years. #2. Davie Dodds Former Scottish international Davie Dodds makes into this list for his rather weird looks. The ex-Dundee United, Aberdeen and Rangers striker was nicknamed The Elephant Man by fans. It seems that he has undergone some form of growth right below his jaw, giving him a Frankenstein-like appearance. While he was successful with Dundee United, his looks weren’t the best. #1. Iain Dowie Former Northern-Irish striker Iain Dowie played in the Premier League for the likes of West Ham United, Southampton and Crystal Palace. He was not so prolific in finding the net but he lacked in goals he most certainly made up for his ugliness. Iain Dowie had a constant depressed look on his face, even when his team was winning. To add insult to injury, his facial features didn’t help either.
