All time richest Ghanaian musicians : Africans or let’s just say Ghanaians don’t like to disclose their wealth because they are afraid that it might trigger envy. Lots of musicians in Ghana have made a reasonable amount of money for themselves musically. Most of their wealth didn’t come from CD sales but endorsement deals, tours and concerts.

Let’s just say things might change in the coming years, but regardless these folks have been able to stand out with their music. As a wise man once told me, there’s nothing sweeter than a hard-earned money or legit money.

There are not exact figures but these artists made our list because of the various endorsement deals and shows they’ve played and our little inside research we have done.

11. Asem

Asem’s career might not be 100% on point at the moment but he is number 11 on our list because he was the hottest artist the time Globacom was signing artists to be their ambassadors, as such, he took the most money when he was signed on as an ambassador. In a deal like that one is to take 50% of the amount upon signing and the rest, a couple of months before the deal end, Asem was smart enough to part ways with his Lynx Family before taking the remaining 50%. In an interview with Bola Ray, A sem confessed the money was enough to get him a house and a car and it was more than GHC 100,000 . That doesn’t sound like small money to me. He’s a young man and he’s got one of the basic things in life from his art and creativity.

10. Kwaw Kese

There is no big stage in Ghana that you won’t see Kwaw Kese on. His craziness is indeed needed on every stage to liven it up. Besides playing almost every show, Kwaw Kese is one of the artists who charge a lot per show. He’s also not a big spender but we know he’s got a thing for cars and as such do a buy-and-sell of cars to his fellow artists. 09. Reggie Rockstone

A long time ago, in an interview with Reggie he advised musicians to make hay whilst the sun shine, Reggie rockstone is also one of the artists who signed with Glo but after signing he invested it all in his ‘The Office (Now Django Bar)’ and ‘Grandpapa’s’ lounge/bar. The venture became huge, it became one of the most visited places in Accra. His influence as the grandpapa of Hiplife has finally paid off. Besides all that he flies to-and-fro Nigeria every week to be a judge on the African version of the ‘X-Factor’ reality show. I’m not sure the pay cheque is going to be small. 08. D-Black

Everybody in the showbiz circle know that D-Black is the most business-minded person in the industry. He just know how to hustle. After touring the whole Ghana, 2 years ago, he opened the way for musicians to host their own shows with his YES BOSS concert. Not just that, he recently signed a deal worth around $150,000 with rLG. The hustle goes on.

07. Samini

Even though Samini’s career at the moment seems shaky, but that doesn’t make him any less richer. Samini was the first artists to be signed on by MTN as a brand ambassador. He has hosted 2 big shows, one with Demarco and the other with Movado. He’s also behind bubbling artists like Kaakie, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata. He recently also replaced R2Bees at the Malta Guiness concert which he took home not less than $15,000. Samini also has his own Night Club and restaurant.

06. R2Bees

Rumor has it that R2Bees were way richer before music, but they have achieved a lot musically as well. As much as R2Bees don’t seem to be serious about their music career, their natural talent seems to have paid off. They are one of the respected Ghanaian artists in Nigeria. R2Bees charges not less than GHC7,000 per show, they rejected a whooping $20,000 cheque from Malta Guiness to perform because the money was too small. They are also brand ambassadors for rLG which we believe they signed on for $300,000. They definitely are refusing to be broke.

05. Okyeame Kwame

The reason why many people don’t see Okyeame Kwame’s wealth is because he’s matured, married and hence don’t show off like the kids. But he’s actually one of the richest musicians in Ghana. He’s a brand ambassador for MTN and GT Bank, his Hepatitis B campaign is sponsored by MTN. He recently held a successful show dubbed ‘The Versatile Show’ which was commercially successful by all standards. He also did a nationwide tour dubbed “O In Your Zone’. Not just that, he also designed a commercial for Coca Cola . Just last month he mounted a big stage in East Legon with a concert called ‘Coca Cola Shake Up’. He is indeed making lots of money from his art and creativity

04. Sarkodie

Of course this list wouldn’t be complete without this man. He’s the man of the moment. A close source told us that rLG actually wanted to sign Sarkodie but because of his deal with Samsung, they couldn’t sign him. He’s a brand ambassador for many brands like Samsung, Fan Milk Ghana just to name few. Sarkodie’s riches started from his Rapperholic US tour, since then he’s been accepted worldwide as one of the most talented and successful Ghanaian musicians of all time. He’s also got his own designer collection tagged ‘Sark’, his water merchandise called ‘Holic H2O’ is also taking heed slowly. He has mounted many stages to the extent that his price is unaffordable for promoters so his team and Tigo has been touring the whole country. His Rapperholic concert has been commercially successful in all the regions he has been.

03. Amakye Dede

In a recent publication, Amakye Dede was cited as one of the most-paid artists per show which he came out to deny . But till date Amakye Dede will take more than 3 of the artists mentioned above put together per show. His classics are still one of the hottest demands. Besides having countless albums, Amakye Dede’s reign was the buying age where people actually bought music so he sold a lot. Amakye Dede don’t play most of his shows in Ghana but rather in Europe where he charges ridiculous amounts per performance.

02. Kojo Antwi

Commonly known as ‘Mr. Music Man’ is a legend when it comes to Ghana music. Even though he’s barely seen anywhere and probably don’t live in Ghana, he’s our #2 all time richest Ghanaian musicians. Undeniably he won’t perform just anywhere because no Ghanaian promoter can pay him. With 12 successful platinum-selling albums to his name he is indeed a living legend. His 24th December yearly show is a show that not even the President of Ghana will miss. He also own Breeze FM.

01. Daddy Lumba

Daddy Lumba has 25 successful albums to his name . Based on our research, Daddy Lumba will charge nothing less than GHC40,000 to perform. Lumba in his long career, has won so many awards and recently honored as a living legend with a huge concert which had dignitaries like former presidents J.A Kuffour, J.J Rawlings, etc in attendance. That concert was one of the most successful and sold-out concerts of all time in the Ghanaian concert history. He’s the most richest musician in Ghana who has acquired lots of wealth from his talents. Congrats Daddy Lumba, we are patiently waiting for your next album
