2. Martha Frayde BarraquƩ
The most significant death during the month December 2013, the death of Martha Frayde BarraquĆ©. She was a founder and leading figure of Cubaās human rights movement. She served as Cubaās representative to UNESCO in Paris until 1965. She was a sharp critic of the Fidel and RaĆŗl Castro governments for decades. She served 29 years as a political prisoner and has lived in exile in Spain since 1979. She died on Dec. 4, 2013 in Madrid at the age of 93.
