Celebs who wish they were black : In the wake of recent events, people are getting a lot less clear about race, or a lot clearer, depending on how you look at it. In June 2015, Rachel Dolezal, who was the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP, was in the middle of a racial scandal. For over three decades, she lied about her racial identity, for reasons we’re still not completely sure of.

These celebs may have never publicly claimed to be Black, but some of them haven’t exactly corrected people’s assumptions, either.

The reasons that people may want to be Black are varied. Some of it has to do with the fact that Black people are often associated with having certain body types or doing well in certain careers. Some people are attracted to the physical features of Black people. Whatever the case, it’s nice to appreciate a certain race of people for their positive attributes. However, it’s best for everyone to just be happy being themselves. In the meantime, here are 11 celebs who likely wish they were Black.

11. DJ Khaled DJ Khaled tags most of the songs he produces with the words “we da best.” It’s obvious that he’s completely comfortable working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Lil Wayne, T.I.,Rick Ross and Fat Joe. Khaled was long assumed to be Black, and he’s not mad at that. The rapper, DJ and radio personality is actually Palestinian. DJ Khaled has been hard at work for the past few years, and when he went to the doctor to have a bald spot on his beard examined, he was told he was “suffering from success.” He decided to make that the name of his seventh album. His current album, entitled I Changed A Lot , features big names like Chris Brown and Big Sean.

10. Justin Bieber There are a lot of people (celebrities and commoners alike) who throw shade at Justin Bieberwhenever the opportunity presents itself. After all, he’s been arrested for drinking and driving, acting erratically in public and lashing out at the paparazzi, so it’s normal that he isn’t regarded as a fan favorite by many. But all those things aside, another thing about Bieber that might make people cringe is how the young celebrity gives off the impression that he is black. Justin has mentioned that the reason he felt the remarks he made were not intended to be racist because he relates better to black people than he does to white people. Bieber is also seen hanging around other celebrities like Kanye West, Chris Brown and Floyd Mayweather on many occasions. 9. Rita Ora Singer Rita Ora is Albanian, but a number of people thought she was Black or biracial. Ora doesn’t seem to mind, though. It’s pretty obvious that she takes a number of her style cues from Rihanna, and even looks pretty similar to Beyonce in some pictures. She recently performed the single Black Widow with Iggy Azalea, who is another non-Black woman in the industry who may not be completely happy with her racial status. Rita Ora was once in a relationship with Rob Kardashian, but reportedly broke up with him because she wasn’t satisfied sexually. 8. Jon B Jon B is the 1990s R&B crooner who is best known for his single They Don’t Know . He worked withBabyface at the beginning of his career, and even had a single featuring Tupac called Are U Still Down . There were speculations about Jon B.’s race for a long time, which led people to believe that he was at least half Black. After some years, the singer admitted that he wasn’t Black, but there are rumors that he’s Italian and Dominican. Jon B. comes from a musical family; his father is a music professor, his mother is a concert pianist and his brother plays the cello. 7. Channing Tatum Channing Tatum has Creole and English roots, and he became famous playing the rough kid from the other side of the tracks with impeccable dance skills. The hot celeb also has Native American blood, and some have concluded that Channing Tatum’s “swag” is largely due to the fact that he takes his cues from Black people when it comes to his attitude and persona. The actor who is currently known for his appearance in the Magic Mike movies, is originally from Alabama, and has also appeared in the films She’s the Man, Dear John and The Dilemma . 6. Eminem When Eminem burst onto the music scene, a number of people were fascinated with his rap skills. The musician, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has stated that Dr. Dre is one of his biggest influences, and he’s also rapped with 50 Cent. Mathers also starred in the movie 8 Mile , which was loosely based on his life. It’s clear that he’s comfortable around Black people and has close friendships with a number of guys who just happen to be Black. Although Eminem hasn’t exactly stated that he’d rather be a Black man, he does dress very similar to his favorite rappers, who are Black, and developed a form of speech that made his lyrics stand out. 5. Coco Some would argue that Ice T and Coco are barely in an interracial marriage since the two are so close in complexion. However, Coco has made some physical adjustments that suggest she doesn’t mind beingmistaken for a Black woman. Coco, a model and businesswoman, states that she’s always had a large rear end and large breasts, and used to want to hide these assets. Coco, whose real name is Nicole Austin, has done workouts to enhance the parts of her body that get lots of attention, and has since embraced her curves to get more work as a glamour model. She is of Serbian origin, and many assert that she looks more like a Black woman after her “makeover,” which included a tan and a bigger butt. Interesting, to say the least. 4. Carmen Electra Carmen Electra’s attempts to have plumper lips and a curvier figure are indicators that she’s a fan of the body types that are quite familiar in communities of color. There’s also that brief stint when she thought it was a good idea to wear cornrows. Electra was once married to musician David Navarro, but there was a time when she dated Dennis Rodman. She and Rodman even got married in Vegas, but he had the marriage annulled nine days later, claiming that he wasn’t in the right mindset to make such an important decision. Many people assume that Electra started to have secret ambitions of being a Black woman when she became Prince’s lover in the 1990s. 3. Madonna Many would argue that the Queen of Pop either has an ardent appreciation for Black people, or wants to be one herself. Remember years ago when Madonna was in a serious relationship with Dennis Rodman. Basketball’s biggest weirdo apparently made Madonna happy for a time, and may have influenced her to wear bandanas and chunky metallic jewelry. Maybe she was trying to see how she’d look as an extra in a 1990s hip-hop video. Madonna also adopted a child from Africa. While this doesn’t prove that she wants to be Black, it at least suggests that she may be comfortable around Black people and wants to learn more about the culture.

2. Iggy Azalea Iggy Azalea is originally from Australia, but you’d never know it from the way she raps. She sounds like a Black girl who grew up in the inner city whenever she spits her lyrics. While some feel that this matches the style of music Iggy Azalea is known for, others, particularly some female musicians, feel that Iggy should just be herself. She’s been called out by rappers like Nicki Minaj and Eve for her “Blackcent” (Black accent). It’s been suggested that she should rap using her natural accent, in order to bring something fresh and new to the industry. Then again, rapper T.I. is her mentor, so maybe she’s trying to emulate him by using a formula that has been proven to work in hip hop. There’s also her recent facial surgery, which isn’t helping people to feel as though she’s proud of her heritage.

1. Kim Kardashian It’s no secret that the Kardashian girls love Black men. Even Kourtney, who has been in a long-term relationship with Scott Disick and has three children with him, states that she’s dated Black men before. Kim Kardashian has long been accused of wanting to be a Black woman for different reasons. There are photos of her sporting a “grill,” and she’s long been known for her rather noticeable posterior region. Her figure is quite familiar to women of color, and Kardashian’s desire for (at least partial) assimilation into the Black community was perhaps confirmed when she married rapper Kanye West. West has never been shy about speaking out about racial inequality, so it’s easy to assume that he and Kardashian share similar views. Kim also obviously doesn’t mind having Black children. She and West have a daughter named North, and are expecting a son.
