The full name of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulahibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien. He is the head of state and Yangi-Di Pertuan of Brunei. He has been ruling Brunei ever since he became the Sultan in 1967. He ascended the throne after his father relinquished the throne in 1967.
