Faldo has already announced that he plans on making July’s The Open Championship at St Andrews his last. The golf legend turns 58 years old during the tournament and has already begun to turn the focus of his attention to commentating and analysis of tournaments with American networks. As previously mentioned he is the record point scorer in Ryder Cup history, he has also won three The Open Championships and The Masters each and spent 97 weeks as world number one. Whilst Faldo had much success playing in the Ryder Cup, his own captaincy in 2008 has been referred to as one of Europe’s worst, with the Englishman criticised by media and players alike. His company, Faldo Enterprise, have designed 34 golf courses worldwide, and charge $1-million for their designs and the use of Faldo’s name. He made £5-million from sponsors last year and has been sponsored throughout his career by companies including Marriott Hotels, Moet, Hennessey and Glemorangie. He would almost certainly have a larger fortune if it were not for his three costly divorces.
