Aretha Franklin is one of the most soulful voices to ever enter the world. Born in Memphis, Tennessee her parents split up when she was very young. Her father gained popularity as a preacher and Aretha discovered the power her singing voice had. At the young age of 12 years old, yes 12 years old, Franklin gave birth to her son Clarence and when she was 14 she welcomed a second child into her life, Edward. By the time she was 14, she was a mother of two. Aretha’s aunt raised the boys while she followed her music career, which was very lucrative for her and her children. Aretha never revealed the father of her boys.
