Manchester United are reported to be in progressive discussions with Sampdoria over a deal for the 28 year old who spent last season on loan at Monaco and Romero is expected at Carrington very soon for medicals. Manchester United are looking for goalkeeper replacement as De Gea and Victor Valdes could both leave the club this summer with the former desperate to sign for Real Madrid and the latter facing the exit after a row with the manager over his selection or lack of it in this case.
No official figures have been put forward for the transfer but news around old Trafford suggest that the deal could be complete within the next few hours.
