3. Martin Scorsese

Despite being awarded a single Academy Award for Best Director, Martin Scorsese has had a long lasting career of successful films. The film Taxi Driver of 1976 is probably his greatest work and he received the Palme d’Or for it. He is one of the most prolific and influential directors of his generation and currently he is working on a historic film taking place in the 17^th century entitled Silence. Even with the Oscars snubs, he still received a large array of awards, including three Golden Globes, 2 Emmy awards, the BAFTA Film Award, three AFI Awards and a Career Golden Lion, to name a few.
