These celebrities have been known to come up with a number of random reasons for cancelling a concert. While we know that every professional needs a break sometimes, there are some artists out there who should probably learn better time management. Hill has also cancelled performances due to exhaustion and vocal issues, and was pretty nonchalant about the fact that she’d disappointed her fans. More recently though, the singer and rapper cancelled her concert in Israel, because she was not able to perform in Palestinian territories and wanted to send a message of peace and unity to the region. 10. Chris Brown Recently, singer and dancer Chris Brown cancelled a concert in St. Louis, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” Maybe he had to take care of his daughter Royalty that night. Perhaps he wants to spend that time stalking his ex-girlfriend Karreuche Tran, and trying to convince her to take him back. Or, maybe he just needed to get some rest and take a break from partying and drinking so much. This isn’t the first time Brown has had to cancel a performance. The singer was scheduled to participate in the Between The Sheets tour with Tyga and Trey Songz last year, but had to cancel at the time in order to complete his community service. After he handled his legal obligations, tour dates were rescheduled for February and March 2015. 9. Iggy Izalea There are lots of reasons why music fans and fellow artists have problems with Iggy Azalea. Some think she’s “trying too hard” when it comes to being a hardcore rapper, and believe she should bring more of her actual culture (which is Australian) to her work. Others have critiqued her looks, and when she attempted to update her appearance by having some work done, she was met with criticism once again. Apparently, there are also several reasons why Iggy decided to cancel her North American tour recently. She has stated that she’s exhausted, and that if she continued touring, she wouldn’t be able to work on new music until the end of the year. She also stated that she’s tired of performing the same songs and wants to take a new creative direction with her music. None of these sound like good enough reasons to disappoint fans who were already planning to attend one of the concerts on Iggy Azalea’s tour. Michelle is known for her…physical assets, as well as her sharp wit, which has gotten her into trouble at times. The singer recently ended a pretty long-standing feud with fellow R&B singer Tamar Braxton, when the two performed together at the BET Awards. In the spirit of learning to play nice with others, K. Michelle scheduled a tour with rapper Azealia Banks. However, just a couple of weeks after the tour was confirmed, K. Michelle’s team cancelled (according to Banks). The rapper had to ward off criticism that the entire tour was cancelled, and took to Twitter to clarify that only K. Michelle’s participation in the tour was terminated. Perhaps K. Michelle has learned her lesson about keeping company with confrontational people, and wants to keep her name clean, at least for a while, since Banks has been known to make some pretty inflammatory comments. 7. Kings of Leon In 2011, Kings of Leon had to cancel the remainder of their summer tour. The lead singer of the band,Caleb Followill had to leave the stage to throw up, which was an indication that perhaps the band should take a break. While the band’s publicity team stated that Followill was dealing with vocal issues and exhaustion, it was pretty clear that there were bigger problems at play. Jared Followill, Caleb’s brother and bassist for the band, admitted that Kings of Leon had bigger problems than “not drinking enough Gatorade.” Three years later, the band had to cancel two more concerts, but this time, the reason was more forgivable. Nathan Followill, the drummer, was recovering from broken ribs due to a bus accident, but has made a successful recovery. 6. Maroon 5 Rock/pop band Maroon 5 is known for their music all around the world. Plus, they’ve got a pretty hot frontman in Adam Levine, which certainly doesn’t hurt their brand. What does hurt Maroon 5’s brand, however, is when one of the band members Tweets offensive things about the Dalai Lama. Jesse Carmichael, the band’s keyboard player, Tweeted “happy birthday to his holiness” as a tribute to the Dalai Lama on his birthday. However, China hasn’t had a great relationship with this well-known figure, as he has been in exile in India since 1959. It was also reported that Carmichael attended the 80 th birthday celebration for the Dalai Lama. Two of the band’s concerts in China were cancelled. Interesting. 5. Miranda Lambert So, maybe country superstar Miranda Lambert’s reason for cancelling her concert wasn’t exactly “disrespectful”, but some would say it’s pretty unprofessional. When Lambert’s husband Blake Shelton (also a country superstar), filed for divorce, she didn’t really feel much like singing, which is understandable. However, thousands of people have to show up to work every day when going through a breakup, which is why some people aren’t cutting her any slack. Miranda also stated that she was cancelling the concert due to a vocal cord strain, but she decided not to perform only a couple of days after Shelton started the divorce process. Coincidence? 4. Mariah Carey Mariah Carey has been behaving like a diva for years now. Some fans have excused this behavior due to Carey’s impressive vocal range. Now that her golden pipes aren’t exactly what they used to be, people are really starting to focus on the fact that Mariah can be a bit impossible when it comes to her demands and lack of professionalism. Carey recently cancelled a concert during the first week of her Vegas residency at the last minute, and her fans were pretty unhappy about it. Some even took to Twitter to express their disappointment. She was supposed to perform in Vegas in May 2015, but informed her fans via social media that she had bronchitis and had to be on vocal rest. It’s not surprising that some of Mariah’s fans are skeptical, since she’s been known to show up late to performances and skip rehearsals. 3. Future So, technically the concert cancellations weren’t rapper, Future’s fault. However, police officers had to respond to three nightclubs where Future was supposed to be giving free concerts. The performances were cancelled a second time, since over 1,200 people showed up and parts of Sunset Boulevard had to be blocked off. The throng of fans who turned out to see him was likely an ego boost for Future, who has been on what seems to be a media tour to bash his ex, Ciara. The fact that the concerts had to be cancelled, however, is perhaps a bit of a karmic warning to the rapper to stop giving Ciara such a hard time. Maybe he can take his focus off of trying to ruin his ex-fiance’s new-found happiness for a minute and figure out a better plan for giving free concerts to his fans. 2. Nickelback Summer 2015 was the season of Nickelback concert cancellations. The band had to cancel one concert in June, and a few weeks later, Nickelback was announcing that it had to cancel all of its tour dates until September 4. The band’s frontman, Chad Kroeger, has to undergo surgery because of a voice box cyst. There wasn’t much information for fans who had already purchased their tickets online, until the band released their statement about Kroeger’s medical issues. Nickelback hasn’t given fans in the U.S. any details about when they’ll be performing in North America again, but the band is set to be in Finland at the end of September. 1. Miley Cyrus Miley Cyrus continues to be a rather interesting fixture in pop culture these days, especially since she’s no longer starring in her very own Disney sitcom. As a way to get the public to understand that she’s not actually Hannah Montana, she’s made sure that she’s shown as much of her body and tattoos in public as possible. Cyrus has also been known to smoke marijuana on stage, and her hosting skills at the recent Video Music Awards for MTV will probably be discussed for weeks. Fans of Miley Cyrus are also still a little miffed with her for cancelling several dates of her Bangerz tour. She stated that she had a “severe allergic reaction,” but it was believed that hard partying or a possible pregnancy were the reason for her cancellations.
