2. Miley Cyrus – Slant Eyes

This one might be the oldest on the list, but certainly not the least buzzed about. In 2009, Miley Cyrus was pictured with friends and her then boyfriend, Justin Gaston, doing a slant-eyed pose. This wasn’t the first and certainly not the last time Miley was the subject of controversy.

The Asian-American community was deeply offended, especially Asian American fans of Miley Cyrus. The Organization of Chinese Americans said, “not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American friends.”
