7. Climb Aboard the Ho Train
The WWE was already moving out of the goofy characters of the 1980s who were garbage men, rich guys, hillbillies and cowboys. When the WWE started getting more adult in the mid-to-late ’90s, characters usually had an adult-themed bent to them and nobody embodied that change of style more than The Godfather. Having already struck out as Papa Shango and Kama, the real-life Charles Wright finally struck gold as, of all things, a pimp who would bring his “ho’s” to ringside. These ladies were mostly made of strippers from whatever town the WWE was visiting that day. This is the kind of programming that WWE wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole these days.
